Half of my layout plan for my Viva Voce
The final step is to plan for the set up for my viva voce showcase and carry it out. I did a rough draft of how my set up should look like in adobe illustrator. It was not that tough because I had alot of things that I could rework with from my Open Studios! I listed some key points below.
I wanted to have two interactable stations for each of my prototypes (yes both works!) just like in Open Studios. The monitor also play a important role in the functionality of the prototypes because the web cameras (important for both prototypes) are mounted on them!
Descriptions are always important for when the machine is not running. I noticed that many people look at them for explanation when there is no one to explain the project to them.
I needed to position my laptop in between the two monitors as I needed to plug both the arduinos and webcams from both different prototypes.
Overview of my set up
For the rest of my set up, I added some description foam boards at the starting point of my presentation that describes my project and the theories behind it. Of course, there is a Imac that plays videos that I painstakingly edited throughout the last few days, that documents the contexts, outcome and process (I know andreas love process showcases). I also have a segment on the wall where i explain what tiles are, which is important contexts since my prototypes are based within them.
Best decision to join CID
Honestly Lasalle has been one of the biggest gifts of my life. I have met plenty of friends here which have definitely made school not just bearable, but exciting and exhilarating. From the daily school grinds to our funny antics around the class, it is really a experience to remember. I appreciate all my friends and lecturers for the support over the past 3 years. It felt like it has been a very long time and it has!
The biggest game changer for me is how I have found the world of Creative Technology. Over the past few years, I have made exciting projects, from Arduino Wishing wells to transforming butterflies, and i realize that it was not just the outcomes which i enjoy, but the process of tinkering and solving, it feels like a fun puzzle to crack! Moving forward, I hope i have a space in the Creative Tech scene. Hope to share my works with you next time Andreas!
