DISSERATION WRITING
Got my Summative RPO Feedback
After getting my summative RPO feedback, I noted down on the pointers I needed to improve to move forward with my Disseration writing. Andreas comments stayed mostly the same, while It was my first time getting the feedback from the second marker, Hilary Yeo.
It was good to hear that she felt that my sections flowed well (probably summary of readings) and I demostrated my understanding of my topic.
She mentioned that my concepts on Attentional Capture and Congruency of Stimuli can be discussed at a more critical angle. I liked the example she gave "Does attentional capture risk priorisiting spectacle over meaning?". While I have to formulate how to write it in Disseration, it was a great question to ask myself in my own experiments and making process now!
She raised a concern that there was a lack of detail on the way I would wish to approach my A/B testing and journaling. Moving forward, I will look to research more about methods of A/B testing and see how I can properly carry it out, while documenting effectively in my Critical Making Journal.
Looking at the feedback given by both Andreas and Hilary, I understood that I needed to
On a personal note, I did wished that I could have done better for my RPO, but the
feedback I have received have outlined the possible improvements for me (which i appreciate). Now moving
forward, I am eager to expand my research to look into the concept of Embodied Learning and Cultural
Practices as I am sure that the context will help ground my making + research and give it stronger
purpose.
Adding new Resources to my Readings
To further develop my Dissertation, I have spent more time reading to build up my understanding on the topics of Cultural Practices and Embodied Learning. I have reformulated the pillars to be more relevant to my application (Cultural Practices) and research.

Movement Matters is a informative book that studies how engaging actions and sensorial experiences help augment our learning through the discussion of concepts like Embodied Learning and Embodied Cognition.

This research article looks into the case study of the Baba Nonya Heritage Museum in Malaysia and their integration of Multisensory Interfaces in facilitating the embodied learning of the cultural heritage of Baba Nonya. This case study is very relevant to my current field of research, as it tackles Multisensory Interface Design in the context of Cultural Heritage. It also looks into the effectiveness of the learning experience about Baba Nonya heritage through user testing and surveys.

I have not yet found any major readings that specifically relate to this pillar, but the book Movement Matters can actually be related here as well.
